How Can I Help You Cruel Woman? [Original Drawings}
5’ x 7.5’ drawing that became the textile piece “How Can I Help You Cruel Woman?”.
This work questions the storytelling of the tale. Often the one who is the smartest is the hero in Southern folklore; not the morally right one. The teller of the story does not question why the wife is so displeased with the husband to the point that she would kill him. But seeing how the story played out there are questions around the dynamic of their relationship and how depending on the gender of the storyteller they would choose to depict as the victor even though both characters are arguably equally toxic.
